Joan DuBay-Tully is a professional artist with over 50 years of creations ranging from paintings and sculptures, to etchings and unique fiber art. Her focus over the last 30 years has been an exploration into unique and creative approaches in using fibers and textiles. Her award winning fiber art pieces and figurative designs are a display of Joan’s ability to create colorful, imaginative and whimsical pieces.
Joan received her B.A. degree in Art from Clarke University and also did graduate studies at the Cambridge School of Art in Cambridge, MA. She has exhibited her works nation wide in galleries and other show venues.
Joan began her fiber art experience in 1983 and has enjoyed exploring the various techniques ever since. She uses an assortment of fibers, art mediums, thread embellishments, metals, painting, beads, papers and found objects. Over the years Joan has worked both two and three dimensionally, integrating traditional and innovative techniques into her art quilts and sculptures. In general she does figurative work, frequently drawing upon her immense imagination, creativity and talent to incorporate color, texture and whimsy into her pieces.
Joan’s artistic figures, fiber art pieces have been featured in several publications and have won acclaim at many juried art, fiber, figurative art and quilt shows throughout the United States and several of her creations have won top awards.
