I began drawing at the age of ten years old. I was amazed by the newspaper comics and comic books that I would like to read. I also was very fascinated by the comical characters that were displayed on cereal boxes and televised cereal commercials that I viewed. I got my first inspiration however, by finding out that my mother and ilder brother could draw too. I joined an art club and began creating an art portfolio while I attended the Julius Hayes Hess Upper Grade Center for two years. I participated in thetcreation of a wall mural being made in the lower level of the school. Upon entering high school, in my Freshman year, I presented this portfolio to an art instructor who was at the time accepting students for two years of Commercial Arts studies at the high school I was attending. I learned art history about many artists. Our art class worked together as a group and on individual art projects. I was introduced to creating acrylic, oil and water color paintings. Linoleum block printing. Button creations, macrame plant holders. Self-portraits, drawing others, landscape and dtill-Life renderings in various mediums of art. I learned about ceramics, some silk screening designs on fabric items, such ss, canvas bags and t-shirts. I made illustated materials for pamphlet covers and graphic designs for a fooball jersey. I earned trophies, certificates of art merits in high school. I was I participated in various art festivals and art competitions throughout my high school years.
