Community members will crochet small circles that will be stitched together to form one large piece.
This project will bring the fiber artist Carol Hummel to campus to work with our Quad Cities’ communities in creating a crocheted, site-specific, community-based public art project on a tree near 7th Ave. and 35th St., which will remain on view all year. This project, like much of the art by Hummel, draws diverse sectors of communities together in a positive, celebratory way to help create major pieces of art for the people, by the people. Community members will participate by crocheting small circles that will be stitched together by the artist to form the larger piece.
Community members are invited to attend a workshop to hear more about the project, learn how to crochet, and check out a packet, if they would like to participate on their own.

Community members can also participate at any of the Crochet-Ins. Knowledge of crocheting is required to participate in a Crochet-In.
